Posse members...we have a few new things to go over.
* The posse offers two trainings per month. They are on the 1st and 3rd Thurs afternoon of every month at 6:30 to whenever. The trainings are at the Hillsborough County Fairgrounds Arena ,215 Sydney Washer Rd in Dover.
These trainings are provided for members who need work on whatever they desire. This is also the place to refine your horsemanship skills. We will work on loping or cantering,mounting from both sides,sidepassing, backing etc. We will also work on specialty areas such as desensitizing,obstacles,formation work, even jumping for those who want to learn.
Qualifiers are just that....qualifiers. If you know you can't mount from both sides,lope in control,etc.then qualifiers aren't the place to come practice these. We will work on problem areas at The Practices on Thurs. In order to qualify your horse for ANY posse function you must be able to dismount and mount from both sides,walk trot and lope or canter in both directions displaying complete control of your mount. These rules have been decided on by the training committee and by the board and they have decided to strictly enforce them. Since we have a great facility, and plenty of in house people that can help us in all areas we ought to take advantage of it . ** Meetings will now be at the FOP starting in Sept. They will be on the same Thurs as always but we have moved to the FOP just up the road. Both the board meeting at 6 and the general meeting at 7:30 will be there. We are saving a considerable amount of money each year by making this move.
*** The next qualifying is October 29th and 30th . It is an over nighter if you wish to camp. It will be at the Hillsborough County Fairgrounds Arena. You can set up anytime after 4 PM for the night obstacles on the 29th and in the saddle by 9AM on the 30th for qualifying
If you wish to camp out you must provide your own way to contain your horses.. We will have more information on this at the Sept meeting.
**** There will be a social camping trip at the Tillis Hills Camp Ground 11/19 thru 11/21. Call Tillis hills directly to reserve your campsite and stalls. You should probably do this ASAP as sites and stalls fill up quickly there in the fall.
*****The next Obstacle Challenge the Extreme Team Challenge II will be Sat Oct 2nd at 9AM at the Hills County Arena. You must compete in pairs. You can pair up in as many combinations as you want but you can only compete once in the same combination. All 10 obstacles are designed to be completed by a pair of horses and riders. Its alot of fun and not near as hairy as the singles Challenge.The cost is $70 per team .

****** The next speed show series starts this Sept on the 11th and will go the 2nd Sat of Oct and Nov. Can always use help out there. Between the speed show and the challenge it is the posses only source of income so in order to keep us going and to write some good size checks to some charities we need to pitch in. After all thats what we are about
